Dr. Michael L. Reyes Dr. Michael Reyes joined Peninsula Orthopedic Associates (POA) after 4½ years of orthopedic practice in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he was Chief of the Bone & Joint Center at Straub Clinic & Hospital. His interests include general orthopedics, trauma, and joint replacement surgery.

Born in Philadelphia, he was raised and educated in Manila, California, and Pennsylvania. He attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. He then trained in orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California. Subsequently, he completed 2 subspecialty fellowships, in Orthopedic Trauma and in Adult Reconstruction/Joint Replacement Surgery, both also at U.S.C.

Dr. Reyes is especially interested in the treatment of arthritis, through both surgical and non-surgical means. Joint replacement surgery, although typically quite successful, is still major surgery with associated postoperative pain, and even rarely, complications. Dr. Reyes' main focus in his practice today is in applying new and cutting-edge technology to make hip & knee replacement surgery easier, safer, less painful, and with speedier recovery.

Some of these new and exciting advances in the field of joint replacement surgery include Minimally-Invasive Surgery, Computer Navigation, Alternate Bearing Surfaces in Hip Replacements, and Mobile Bearing Knee Replacements.

The following is a list of some of the specialty procedures that Dr. Reyes performs:

  • Total knee replacement
